Meet Dr. Allison
Dr. F. Vincent Allison III was born and raised in Durham, NC where he graduated with honors from Hillside High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree (Cum Laude) from Morehouse College in Atlanta GA. He then went on to attend the University of North Carolina School Of Dentistry in Chapel Hill, NC where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
He began practicing dentistry in 1987 at The Bertie Citizens' Family Dental Clinic in Windsor, NC. In 1992 he became the Dental Director of Stedman Family Dental Center in Stedman, NC; a division of Stedman-Wade Health Services, Inc. Dr. Allison returned to Durham in 2001 to begin a private Family & Cosmetic Dental Practice. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University Of North Carolina School Of Dentistry. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Allison also serves as Dental Director of the SNDA CAARES Free Dental Clinic. The SNDA CAARES Clinic, located in downtown Durham provides free urgent dental care to the uninsured most Tuesday evenings. The care is provided by Dental Students from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Dr. Allison serves as the Attending Dentist supervising the students care. Dr. Allison is active in many professional organizations including the National Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Old North State Dental Society (past president), the North Carolina Dental Society and the Durham Academy of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists. He is also a Fellow in the International College of Dentist.
Dr. Allison is currently serving on numerous Boards, Committees, Commissions, Community and Civic organizations including: The Durham County Board of Health (currently serving as Chairman); The Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People (former Chair of the Health Committee); The University of North Carolina School of Dentistry Admissions Committee; The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Board of Visitors; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; the NAACP (Life Member); and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (Alpha Tau Boule).
Other past involvements include: Lincoln Community Health Center Board of Directors; The National Alumni Association of Hillside High School Board of Directors (Past President); the Hillside High School Band Parents Organization (Past President); The North Carolina Medical Advisory Committee (Former Chairman); the Fayetteville Area Health Education Foundation Board of Trustees; the Fayetteville Area Minority Health Professions Association (Past President); Fayetteville Area Dental Society; The North Carolina School Technology Commission.
Dr. Allison is married to the former Alma "Terri" Toole and has two sons, Christopher and Bryan.
